Air Force Intelligence (Template:Lang-ar, Idarat al-Mukhabarat al-Jawiyya) is an intelligence service of Syria. It mainly is involved with things other than airforce intelligence.[1] This service was headed for nearly thirty years Maj. Gen. Muhammad al-Khouli, who was trusted by Hafez Assad and had an office adjacent to his in the presidential palace.[2] In 1995 it was headed by Ibrahim Huwayji.[3] It has been active in the suppression of the Muslim Brotherhood rebellion.[2] It has been involved in terrorism in other countries.[2] Idarat al-Mukhabarat al-Jawiyya possibly is the most powerful intelligence service of Syria.[4] It is important because Hafez al-Assad was an airforce commander.[4] Agents of this service have frequently been stationed in Syrian embassies or branch offices of the national airline.[5] At least in 2006, the service was not subject to administrative control.[6]
